College

Sun Oct 18, 2009, 3:49 PM
Wow college. I can't believe I've been only been here for two months. It feels a lot longer. Well college has been pretty much taking up all my time to do... well anything, but especially taking photos. I was surprised my dad let me take our camera here but in any case, it stays locked in my drawer for the most part with my inability to make time to use it mixed with my fear of losing it. Anyways, my classes are pretty good, I am interested in everything I'm taking. Of course, that doesn't mean it's easy by any means, and coupled with an organization/internship program I'm doing, it does take a lot out of me. But the organization I joined is really cool, it's called WISPIRG, and they have a variety of causes they campaign for. I'm with the Hunger and Homelessness campaign and I love being a part of an organization that actually does make a difference as well as meeting some really cool people.

Unfortunately, although I do love the atmosphere here, I get really homesick a lot. I miss having close friends to talk to that are there when I need them. I have a harder time adjusting to new environments (hey, I lived in the same place for almost 19 years of my life)than I thought and I start to really miss my friends, family, cat, and my car.
I've been doing decently in school but that's mostly because I've been pretty good about being on top of things. I got an A on my Psych midterm and an A on my English paper, two major grades. I got a B on my anthropology midterm though. Still... not bad. I have no idea what I want to study, with my interests going from Political Science to Business to English to whatever other odd subject there is out there. But if I do plan on applying to the Business school, I definitely do need to keep my grades up.

Love life? Ah, well no crazy college hookups or anything, that has never been my style. I met someone over the summer and we've been talking and texting a lot since then. However, she lives three hours away from where I am and I have no car and no way of getting to the small town of Chippewa Falls, WI. She came up to visit yesterday with her family and she was going to spend Saturday with me. But, she got sick, when she was with me, I took her temperature and it went up to 101. Needless to say, she had to leave :(. It may sound terrible, but in a way, it wasn't either. It was sweet, I took care of her for the six hours and for the last 3 and a half hours or so, we just stayed in my dorm, napped together, played guitar, and talked until she got picked up.

I think I'm suffering the consequences of being with a girl with a 101 fever today but it was definitely worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I hope I don't get sick tomorrow as I have my English midterm then.

Well, that's been my life if anyone out there actually bothers to read these. I guess it's always nice to reflect or rant. Hope you all are doing well, I will try to get back into photography if I can.
Best,
Maysen
